Through this project I examined the relationship of image and text with a series of brief assignments and a visually compelling and functional/informational piece based on theresearch you did on a sculptor and his/her work.
I chose to make posters about Brancusi's Madame Pogany because I was attracted to how the sculpture reflects its environment and distorts the image because of its curvy surface. Before I started to work on the posters, I came up with ten words that described the sculpture: Reflective, Curvy, Isolated, Defensive, Confidential, Restrained, absorbing, dreamy, interactive, fragmented. Also, Brancusi's direct quote, "Simplicity is complexity resolved," was a big inspiration for my poster's simplistic aesthetic.
